L'OREAL | Dream Lengths 8 Second Wonder Water Lamellar Rinse-out

*DISCLAIMER: Product was sent to me by Influenster and L'Oreal in exchange for my honest review*

L'OREAL has become one of the biggest, leading beauty brands to date. Their main goal? Making the best of luxury beauty available and accessible to all. L'OREAL definitely represents beauty in all of its diverse forms. As mentioned, I received the 8 Second Wonder Water Lamellar Rinse Out on behalf of Influenster and L'OREAL in exchange for my honest review.

WHAT IS IT?

L'OREAL describes this product as a "new generation of hair treatment". Why? Because the product's formula is quiet unique to what we've seen traditionally with hair masks. The 8 Second Wonder Water Lamellar Rinse Out is a liquid formula that disperses instantly on wet hair.  The liquid looks and feels like water, but contains breakthrough lamellar technology that works to repair hair instantly. The product works in 8 seconds and visibly transforms the appearance of your hair after the first use by bringing a shiny, smooth, healthy finish to the hair. Furthermore, the liquid hair treatment is said to target damaged areas of hair by forming thin layers called "lamellas" that smooth the hair's surface with no weigh down.

One of the key ingredients of the 8 Second Wonder Water Lamellar Rinse Out is as follows:

-Amino Acid & Proteins: targets damaged areas of hair, forming thin layers called lamellas to smooth its surface. Protein & amino acids are the building blocks of hair and work to give you smoother, shinier, healthier looking hair in one use.

WHO IS IT FOR?

The 8 Second Wonder Water Lamellar Rinse Out is marketed toward those with fine to curly hair who are looking to repair damaged hair. However, the product is said to work well across multiple hair types and is considered as safe to use for those with colour treated hair. For reference, my hair is curly and finer in texture. In addition, my hair concerns include: frizz, manageability, and dry/damaged hair.

HOW TO USE

L'OREAL recommends using this product in the shower on wet hair after shampooing. Massage a dose of the product along the lengths of your hair (avoiding your scalp) for about 8 seconds, then rinse it out (avoid any contact with your eyes, of course!). You can follow up with your conditioner afterwards, if needed, but not necessary. The brand also recommends using the product 2 to 3 times a week for best results. And, L'OREAL also suggests using 1 dose for fine to medium hair, 2 to 3 doses for thick to curly hair, and be sure to add one more dose if you have long hair.

MY THOUGHTS

I was definitely a bit surprised at the formulation of the product when I first used it. The liquid really does feel and look like water. I also really like how the product comes in a squeeze bottle. This makes it easy for application. Also, the amount of product that you get for the price is also very reasonable and affordable compared to other hair masks/treatments that I've used in the past.

The effect? I noticed very minimal effects to my hair after the first use. And, even after using the product for 2 days in a row, I still did not notice any grand changes to the appearance of my hair. The most that I saw was a subtle shine to my hair. However, the hair treatment did not do as good of a job in taming my frizz nor did my hair feel as smooth as when I have used other hair treatments in the past. Furthermore, my hair still looked and felt somewhat dry and coarse the next day as well. I did not feel that this product gave my hair the level of hydration it needs either, although I do not think that this is meant to be one of their primary target areas of concern.

Free of Silicones

I will say that I was happy to note that the product did NOT weigh my hair down, it rinses out very easily, and it does not leave any residue on the hair afterwards. Lastly, the product itself has a very strong, long-lasting fragrance to it. Not displeasing by any means (I actually didn't mind the scent itself), but fairly strong to the point where it actually started to hurt my nose after some time. The scent itself is actually what deters me from using the product again. However, I do strongly feel as though this product may work to enhance your hair care routine when paired with other more intensive products that meet your hair's needs. I even used this product in conjunction with the Super Curls Cream as well as the Heat Slayer Pre Iron Spray by L'OREAL and still noticed minimal effects to my hair. Overall, I appreciate the packaging, the formulation, the price point for the amount of product that you get, and the subtle shine that it gives your hair, but I don't feel that this product did much for me otherwise. Therefore, I do not foresee myself purchasing this product in the future.
