L'OREAL is hot on the scene with their new Dream Lengths campaign. The campaign features three new products: the 8 Second Wonder Water Lamellar Rinse Out, the Heat Slayer Pre-Iron Spray, and their Super Curls Cream Leave-in. As mentioned, I received the Dream Lengths Heat Slayer Pre-Iron Spray on behalf of Influenster and L'OREAL in exchange for my honest review today.

WHAT IS IT?

The Dream Lengths Heat Slayer Pre-Iron Spray is a spray formula that is said to provide up to 3 day sleek hair and heat protection from up to 450F for the ideal sleek look. Some of the claims include: reduces frizz, seals in shine, fights humidity, protects from heat, and it has an irresistibly sweet, floral, fruity scent.

WHO IS IT FOR?

The product itself is marketed for those who are looking to provide heat protection when utilizing hair tools. As well as for those looking to add sleek and shine to their hair. The Heat Slayer Pre-Iron Spray is ideal for all hair types as well. 

HOW TO USE

L'OREAL recommends using the product on clean, damp hair. And to spray evenly along the lengths of your hair 6 to 8 inches away. Afterwards, you can flat iron your hair as usual.

MY THOUGHTS

I generally enjoy using heat protecting sprays when I know I am going to be styling my hair with hot tools. Overall, I actually liked the formulation of the spray. The way I used the Heat Slayer Pre-Iron Spray was after showering on clean, damp hair (as recommended). I typically leave my hair to air dry after showering. Once my hair is fully dry, I flat iron my hair accordingly. So what's the tea on this heat protectant spray? Does it reduce frizz? Honestly, not really. I still noticed my hair to be quiet frizzy even after using this product in conjunction with the other two products in this campaign. What I did find and the reason why I like the formulation of this product is that it did give my hair that extra added shine after flat ironing my hair. My hair had a nice sheen to it, especially when it hit the light. Because of this, my hair looked more "sleek" as well. And, my hair did not necessarily FEEL softer compared to other products I have used in the past.

As far as humidity is concerned, the product gets the job done considering the price point. But if you are looking for something with more fighting power against humidity, this isn't it. I will say that I definitely need to consider adding additional product or using a different product all together when I am looking for hard core protection from humidity. Mostly because my natural hair is fairly curly and the slightest bit of humidity affects my hair drastically. The one thing I did not like about this product was the sweet, fruity scent. I generally am not a big fan of sweet, fruity scents. However, the fragrance was also quiet strong and it took some time for it to dissipate. Much like the 8 Second Water Wonder, I found the scent hurting my nose after a while. Because of this reason, I do not foresee myself repurchasing the Heat Slayer Pre-Iron Spray. As much as the formulation gets the job done, the scent is definitely something to think about if you're easily bothered by strong fragrances.
