HOURGLASS, the cruelty-free beauty giant, was first established in 2004. Since then, the brand has been known for reinventing luxurious products with cutting edge formulas that are designed to be undetectably transformative and effortless to apply. The brand is also known for their elegant packaging that reflects their high quality, high performing products.

The product featured today has been around for some time and is a cult favourite. However, I have been asked to review this product regardless. From the Veil Collection, we will be looking at the Veil Translucent Setting Powder.

WHAT IS IT?
HOURGLASS describes this as an ultra-refined loose powder that has been crafted to give the skin a naturally flawless finish. The Veil Translucent Setting Powder is a finely milled, light weight powder that has been created with "soft-focus light reflecting particles" that works to blur out any imperfections and minimize the appearance of pores, fine lines, and wrinkles. Therefore, creating the illusion of an airbrushed finish. According to the brand, all skin types can use this setting powder.

Some more of the highlighted features and benefits aside from the ones mentioned above include:
-The setting powder has been designed with an innovative sifter cap that allows for the perfect amount of powder to be dispensed without creating a mess. 
-Allows for makeup to last longer.
-The translucent formula leaves an invisible finish, which makes it compatible for all skin tones to use.
-The product has been infused with diamond powder to give the most light refraction without any flashback.
-Can be used for baking under the eyes to prevent concealer from creasing.
-Has been formulated without talc.

This product has been created for everyone and anyone to use. Suitable for all skin types and all skin tones. This product is also for those individuals who are interested in using 100% cruelty-free and vegan products 😊

HOW TO USE
Of course, HOURGLASS suggests using their Veil Powder brush, but any powder brush will do. Pick up a small amount of powder, tap off any excess, and apply all over the face to set make up. This can also be used to bake under the eyes to set concealer as previously mentioned.

MY THOUGHTS

I have been using the HOURGLASS Veil Translucent Setting Powder for some time now and I am definitely impressed with the quality and formulation of the powder. I trialed this product various different ways. The first way was by using the powder to lightly set my entire face. I will admit this was probably my least favourite way of utilizing the product mostly because the powder is VERY fine and is marketed to have a natural finish. Because of that, I found that it did not control my oils as well as other translucent powders that I have used in the past. I also used the powder to bake underneath the eyes and I found that this was my most preferred way of using the product. Because the setting powder is so light weight, it did not leave a heavy or "cakey" feeling/look underneath the eyes, it did not feel drying nor did it accentuate any fine lines or wrinkles. I did notice that the powder has some subtle sparkles, but they are hardly noticeable once applied which I appreciate. The only other downside that I can see about the Veil Translucent Setting Powder is the packaging itself. The sifter is very small and so very limited product actually comes out at once. Having said that, there are hacks to work around this too. Aside from that, the setting powder leaves my skin looking very smooth and it definitely minimized the look of my pores. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised and I really like the setting powder for baking purposes only.
